* Tours between the 22nd of October and the 4th of February are also focused on northern lights photography and have a reduced duration due to the dark season.
We bring you out to the local wildlife in and around Longyearbyen. At this tour, is limited up to 8 persons. Our primary focus, on this tour, is the Arctic fox, Svalbard rock ptarmigan, Svalbard Reindeer, Little auk and to find the good views for eyes and / or camera. Our focus depends on the season and which species that are in the area at the moment. On this trip we will go to the areas close to Longyearbyen and look for animals and birds at different locations, to seek the best lighting conditions and the best experiences. This trip focuses on watching and photographing and the guide is also an experienced nature photographer. We move between different locations, by car and carry out stops and walk from a few hundred meters up to 2/3 kilometres one way.
Our activities will allow you to experience our Arctic wildlife and nature, both in summer and winter conditions, in both good and wild weather conditions, in the safe hands of our photo guide, where your safety and respect for the nature are our highest priorities. We will serve hot drinks and cookies.
NB! The Polar bears are generally rarely or not found in and around Longyearbyen, so we do not focus on it. We will serve hot drinks and cookies. From October to mid-February, it´s all about the arctic fox, Svalbard reindeer, northern light and beautiful landscape and dark winter photography. If we have good weather conditions we may be able to experience the daytime northern lights. Tours during this season will start with a look at the weather- and northern lights-forecast, to check for the possibility of northern lights and clear skies. Then we will help, if necessary, with the set up and preparation of the camera for photography in dark conditions and for getting shots of the northern lights in particular. When we drive out of Longyearbyen we will search for strategic places where we can take pictures of northern lights and night shots in general. In this dark winter period, we can sometimes, in the port of Longyear, closely watch some black guillemot, feeding in the harbour. In the dark winter, it's also dark at daytime and we will use headlamp, when we are out, seeking for the arctic fox and Svalbard reindeer.
The duration of the tour, start and end, what we meet out there all depends on the period, season, daylight, weather conditions, and not least depending on whether the wildlife is playing with us or not.
Depending on the season, period and on request, we can accommodate larger groups, send us a email.
We can also offer you different photo guide packages, from short day trips, also during the Arctic polar night, delivering from November to Mars, to our exclusive photo guide product, with limited participant from 1 up to 3 person, or our extremely exclusive tour, and perhaps the best, be your personal on an exclusive photo guide just for one-1 person.
