We welcome you to Isfjord Radio Adventure Hotel as you arrive with fresh, red winter cheeks and your pockets full of new exotic impressions. Your home for the night is a warm and comfortable hotel, offering a quality level that you would not expect this far into the wilderness. Far off the beaten track you will find time to appreciate the silence and enjoy the special light that is only seen in Svalbard. The drive will take about five hours including stops for taking photos and outdoor lunch. You will feel rewarded as you arrive at your destination after a day out in the Arctic winter. It’s time to lower your shoulders and enjoy the hotel facilities before an exclusive homemade dinner.
10am: Pick up at your hotel / guesthouse in Longyearbyen.
When all participants are gathered, we head to Basecamp's Expedition Center for information, safety briefing and distributing snowmobiles as well as warm winter clothing. The drive to Isfjord Radio is around 90-100km, based on the route choices. Exact time depends on weather and snow conditions, as well as the group dynamic and stops along the way. Expected arrival time at Isfjord Radio is around 3-4pm. You will have time to relax and explore the unique hotel and its facilities before dinner served at 8pm. Do let us know if you have any food allergies that we need to prepare for.
After a good night's sleep, we set course back towards Longyearbyen. The exact departure time is agreed with your guide the night in advance. On our way home we usually stop by Barentsburg, a Russian mining town halfway between Isfjord Radio and Longyearbyen. Here you'll find around 435 inhabitants and Svalbard's only cat. During the day we will also find a suitable place for lunch.
You will be back at your hotel in Longyearbyen around 4pm.

This tour is not suitable if you are pregnant or is you are suffering from back pain. The notification is for your safety and Basecamp Explorer will take responsibility for health problems if this advice is neglected. Pack only what is needed for this trip, as luggage must be carried on your own snowmobile. We recommend a waterproof backpack of around 35-42 litres. Other luggage can be stored at the hotel when you are exploring.
Driver's license for car or motorcycle required for snowmobiling. This must be presented to the guide before departure. Any snowmobile ride on Svalbard needs at least two snowmobiles without passengers for the trip to be carried out. This is for safety reasons, and if a snowmobile stops, we must have space enough to bring everyone home. We reserve the right to change the number of passengers and passengers in the group if necessary.
In Svalbard, the weather conditions change rapidly. We can encounter strong winds, blizzards, thick fog, cracks and a lack of snow or ice. This means that in some cases we must make changes to the planned itinerary. This may mean that we do not arrive at the planned destination or adjust/ change departure or return times to Longyearbyen. It might also mean that we must use a different type of transport or accommodation than that described in the program.
