|Season (4 Mar 2021 - 8 Apr 2021)|
This is the trip for the ones who loves snowmobiling. We will travel miles on glaciers and icy fjords, between mountain peaks and icebergs, far from civilization. It is a rare feeling of freedom to drive over the white landscape!
We start from the expedition center in Longyearbyen towards Barentsburg, where we have our first overnight stay. This is a Russian settlement beautifully situated by the Grønfjord. After check-in we set out to explore the surrounding area.
On day two we continue over the Fritjovf glacier to the Van Mijen fjord. On this majestic fjord that meanders inwards from the west, you can often see seals resting on the ice. We drive further into Reindalen towards the next accommodation, Juvahytta. Here we make dinner together, and those who want can enjoy the outdoor sauna with a view of beautiful Svalbard nature.
On the last day we turn the snowmobiles to the east, over the large glacier plateaus and towards the glacier edge on the east coast. The glacier wall in Mohnbukta is a magnificent sight, and if you are lucky you can also spot the king of the Arctic on the ice.
The last leg goes to Longyearbyen via Juvahytta to pick up your luggage. We are back at the expedition center at about 5 pm.
