Join a trip in Longyearbyen, where you get an insight into the food, arts and beverage traditions in the north. You will also hear stories about how Svalbard and Longyearbyen have developed over the years. The tour starts with pick up at most hotels, in our proprietary restaurant bus.
Along the way you will be served two samples of new beer that is produced locally here in Longyearbyen. This is accompanied by three tapas dishes from Arctic Tapas.
When we arrive at the Gallery, you will be served a glass of champagne while you get a tour of the Gallery. We also visit the cinema, and the arts and crafts center, where local artisans hire a workshop and exhibit their work.
Polar Permaculture will tell and show you how it is possible to grow herbs and vegetables in the Arctic climate, based on food waste from Longyearbyen. There will also be served herbs and vegetables from the garden, which is combined with other Arctic flavors during the season.
At Funken Lodge we get an insight into how the management in Svalbard used to live. We also take the trip down to the wine cellar where you get a glass of wine while we hear about the culture of drinking and the rules for alcohol consumption in Svalbard.
The last stop of the trip is at "Fruene", the city's popular cafeteria. Here you can taste homemade chocolate, which surely melts on the tongue!
- The bus tour to the attractions of Longyearbyen, with several small tasting A glass of wine and champagne at the Gallery and Funken Lodge. Our bus driver is their guide during the trip, and in all places we visit, a host is ready to welcome you.
- Pick up: At your hotel.
- End: The tour ends at the city centre our last stop, at the chocolate cafeteria "Fruene, in Longyearbyen's city centre.
