|Longyearbyen (1 Feb 2018 - 4 Feb 2018)|
Polar Jazz was started in Longyearbyen by a couple of jazz enthusiasts in 1997 and the world’s northernmost jazz festival has been held during the first weekend in February ever since. This completely unique festival is appreciated by locals, visiting festivalgoers and artists alike.
The music on offer during Polar Jazz is not only for jazz lovers, but rather an eclectic mix of musical experiences in the Polar Night for young and old alike. Concerts take place in the Russian settlement of Barentsburg too. This year’s line-up promises to be even better than last year! Big names like Highasakite, Sivert Høyem, Ane Bruun and Jaga Jazzist have performed at Polar Jazz.
Local musicians also get the chance to show off their talents during the annual festival. www.polarjazz.no
