Nordover Art Center is located right in the heart of Longyearbyen, and in addition to two exciting exhibitions, a cinema, and a colorful shop filled with Arctic handicraft, we have a pleasant café area with comfortable seating and a view of the small town's bustling pedestrian street, Hiortfjellet, and Platåfjellet. At the world's northernmost art center, you can explore works of the renowned Norwegian painter Kåre Tveter, as well as a temporary, contemporary exhibition curated by the Northern Norwegian Museum of Arts. If you need a breather, you can also enjoy a cup of locally brewed coffee with a side of something sweet in our café.
We aim to maintain an active and exciting event program throughout the year. In addition to this, we offer rental of our modern, climate-controlled spaces to businesses, groups, and individuals. Our cinema has 32 comfortable seats and can be used as a meeting room, conference room, or for workshops and lectures. The cinema can be rented for private screenings in the evenings. Nordover is also an excellent venue for less formal gatherings, such as kick-offs, celebrations, lunch, etc., and our bright and airy spaces with large panoramic windows are well-suited for social events and mingling.
