Basecamp Hotel is a small, intimate and very special hotel, centrally located in the middle of Longyearbyen. The hotel is built in trapper's style, with rough materials such as driftwood, slate and other materials that were used for the original trapper's huts on Svalbard.

The hotel has a number of historical elements from research, expeditions, mining and fishing in the Arctic. Here, polar bear skins, maps, instruments, books, photos and clothing create a pleasant atmosphere with a distinctive character.

All rooms have newly renovated bathrooms (autumn 2022).

Basecamp Hotel serves a generous, homemade breakfast in the Traveller's Club, and guests can enjoy a good drink in the sitting area at the reception. The hotel can also offer lunch and a lighter dinner on request.

Basecamp Explorer Spitsbergen has extensive experience with tailoring and expedition experiences in Svalbard, and in addition to the hotel in Longyearbyen, has the accommodation options Isfjord Radio Adventure Hotel and Nordenskiöld Lodge. Both are off the beaten track, in the middle of the mighty arctic nature.

The combination of accommodation at the Basecamp Hotel in Longyearbyen and at one of our wilderness hotels provides a unique experience of Svalbard.

Basecamp Explorer owns and operates the Trapper’s station in Bolterdalen, a ten-minute drive from Longyearbyen. The trapping station is home to 80 huskies, and all dog sled rides depart from the station.

Traveller's Club has a capacity of 18 pax, available from 11:00 - 24:00 with a fixed table and seating arrangement.
