Funken Lodge is our five-star boutique hotel on Svalbard, where history, comfort and exceptional hospitality come together in warm and elegant surroundings.
Originally built in 1947 as the residence and representative building for the managers of Store Norske, the hotel was once the heart of Longyearbyen's social life. Today, many of those stories still live on within its historic walls.
Now thoughtfully transformed into a contemporary boutique hotel, Funken Lodge combines its rich heritage with elegant Scandinavian design, personalised service and a calm atmosphere that invites you to slow down and unwind.
From the moment you arrive, you'll experience a tradition unique to Svalbard. Slippers await at the entrance, a small gesture rooted in the archipelago's mining history that makes the hotel feel more like a home than a hotel.

At Funktionærmessen Restaurant, seasonal ingredients and Arctic flavours take centre stage, while Funken Bar offers classic cocktails, relaxed conversation and a welcoming atmosphere. In the historic wine cellar, once home to Svalbard's original wine and spirits shop, you can also enjoy exclusive Champagne and wine tastings.
