Join us on an exciting boat trip to the impressive Tuna and Von Post glaciers in the middle of Tempelfjorden. We sail with our new closed hybrid boat Kvitbjørn on this trip. This speedboat is equipped with a hybrid electric motor solution and is very comfortable with modern facilities. When we approach wildlife or glacier fronts, we only use the boat's electric motor. This gives us completely silent propulsion, and the unique opportunity to experience Svalbard's quiet wilderness up close.
Your guide will pick you up at the hotel and drive down to the harbor where Kvitbjørn is waiting. We drive out of Longyearbyen, round Revneset and head east towards Tempelfjorden. Along the way, we will pass Villa Fredheim, the trapper Hilmar Nøis' main station. We will also make a stop at the impressive bird cliff at Diabas, where we will get close to the busy birds that nest there. In the distance, we will see the impressive glacier front which we are steadily approaching.
Tunabreen glacier impresses with its incredibly beautiful front that takes most people's breath away. This is the moment where you really should have your camera ready. The beautiful blue color contrasts with the otherwise brown landscape and surrounding mountains. Tunabreen glacier is one of the calving glaciers on Svalbard, so if you're lucky, you can see large masses of ice detach from the glacier front and plunge into the sea.
Included in the trip:
- Transport from/to accommodation
- Boat driver and guide with necessary safety equipment
- Hot drinks and buns fresh from the bakery (cinnamon bun, etc.)
We do not recommend this tour if you are pregnant or have back problems.
