Make the Most of Your Visit to Longyearbyen – Start at the Tourist Information Centre
After arriving in Longyearbyen, we recommend stopping by the Tourist Information Centre. We offer activity bookings, free city maps and brochures, inspiration, and helpful information to ensure you have the best possible experience in Longyearbyen and Svalbard.
You’ll find us in central locations, at the top of the pedestrian street – Vei 221.1 and at the harbour terminal* (*only open on select days with conventional cruise ship calls) – Bykaia, Vei 614.3.

The Tourist Information Centre in Longyearbyen is your go-to place for planning, inspiration, and local insight. Here’s what you can expect when you stop by:
- Discover a wide selection of tours in town offered by certified activity providers, with guidance from our knowledgeable staff to help you find the experiences that suit you best.
- Book tours easily using our self-service PCs, where you can search by date, filter by activity type, and pay directly.
- Get up-to-date recommendations on where to eat, drink, and shop—from cosy cafés to local boutiques.
- Meet real Svalbard locals who are happy to share stories, hidden gems, and tips for exploring.
- Stay informed about cultural events, exhibitions, and seasonal happenings during your stay.
- Borrow a high-visibility vest in winter or rent a city bike in summer to explore safely and sustainably.
- Step into local tradition by removing your shoes and borrow comfortable slippers as you explore our welcoming space.
- Explore our brochures, books, and local goods displayed on furniture made from reclaimed wood from Mine 7 and Svea—each piece with its own unique story.
- Use our detailed Svalbard map to get your bearings, or pick up a free city map to guide your adventures.
- We accept Norwegian kroner and credit/debit cards. Please note that foreign currency is not accepted.
