Skiing adventures in Svalbard

Search for Things to Do

Longyearbyen is surrounded by majestic mountains and wonderful nature. The opportunities for ski trips are many and varied, from short trips in gentle terrain through to demanding ski touring challenges across moraines and up to mountain peaks.

Skiing in Arctic nature

Equipped with skis, you can explore Svalbard in a beautiful and peaceful way, like the Arctic nature should be enjoyed. Wintertime in Svalbard is magical and is many people’s favourite season, residents and tourists alike. With randonee skis on your feet, you can go on a summit ski climb up Trollsteinen (850 m above sea level). You will be rewarded with a stunning panoramic view and you can catch your breath at the top while admiring the snowclad landscape. If you come early in the season, you can experience the beautiful blue moonlight and the magical Northern Lights. On the other hand, if you visit in sunny April, you will be captivated by the bright days and spectacular sunsets.

Join our experienced ski guides on an adventureLevel of difficulty on our skiing trips

Experienced ski guides will take care of your safety and share exciting stories about Svalbard. They will choose routes based on the weather and snow conditions. The ideal time for ski expeditions is May and early June as the summer approaches. The Midnight Sun makes it possible to get the most out of the days.
