Experience Longyearbyen at your own pace on a city bike!

At Svalbard Tourist Information, we rent out city bikes throughout the summer season, making it easier to get around Longyearbyen - and, not least, to explore the town on your own. Our city bikes are funded by the Svalbard Environmental Protection Fund and are intended to make it easier for both visitors and local residents to experience Longyearbyen in a sustainable way.

Please note that outside the town limits, it is recommended to be accompanied by a local professional guide who can ensure safety in case of encounters with polar bears. For cycling trips outside Longyearbyen, we recommend joining an organized bike tour with a local activity provider. The city bikes must not be used outside the town limits of Longyearbyen.

Bike rental is handled over the counter at our Tourist Information office, located at the top of the pedestrian street.
If we have bikes available, you are welcome to stop by and arrange the rental with us. We currently have 20 bikes available for rent, and a helmet is included with every rental.

Visitors to Longyearbyen may rent a bike for up to 3 days.
Permanent residents of Svalbard may also rent bikes, but for 1 day per week only.

The rental fee is NOK 40 per day per city bike.

Opening hours in the summer: 10:00 to 17:00 all days (Monday-Sunday)
