The use of drones is prohibited in Longyearbyen

The use of drones closer than 5 km from the airport is prohibited.

If you are planning to use a drone outside the 5 km restriction area, you must read up on the rules. Here are the top 6 important rules:

• Disturbing wildlife is prohibited on Svalbard

• Never fly higher than 120 meters off the ground

• Keep a distance of 150 meters from people, buildings, traffic, boats etc.

• Always keep the drone within your sight

• Take note of the rules concerning photos and films of other people

• It is prohibited to use drones when it is dark
