About

THE WORLD'S NORTHERNMOST SKI SLOPE IS LOCATED IN THE HEART OF LONGYEARBYEN!

Nedover Alpinbakke is Longyearbyen’s local ski resort, operated on a volunteer basis by the sports club Svalbard Turn. Svalbard Turn has an agreement with Longyearbyen Lokalstyre, the owner of the facility.

Nedover offers a unique skiing experience in Arctic surroundings, with views of mountains and fjords in the northernmost town in the world.

The slope was officially opened on April 29, 2024, but skiers in Longyearbyen were able to try it out as early as January of the same year. The distinctive name Nedover ("Downhill") was chosen through a naming competition and reflects the obvious—it's a ski slope that goes downhill. The name follows a well-established tradition of naming places in Longyearbyen.

Day passes are available during regular opening hours.

It is also possible to rent the ski facility. Read more about this here.
