About
We start from town by car, and go to Camp Barentz, which is located 12 km from Longyearbyen, right below the now closed Mine 7.
From here we continue the journey on foot into Adventdalen towards Foxdalen.
At Foxdalen we stop briefly at our cabin, where we collect waders so we can cross the Foxdal river, which is right next to the cabin.
After crossing the river, we enter the Fox valley, with its beautifully layered vertical cliff sides.
Here there are both fossils and rich wildlife.
On the way back, we stop again at our small trapper hut where we eat a light lunch and get something hot to drink, before we hike the 4 km back to the car.
The hike itself is approx. 12 - 15 kilometers.
Pick-up from your hotel in Longyearbyen starts at 10:00.
You will be returned to town between 4 and 5 p.m.
The trip takes place in an area with rough terrain.
We recommend good mountain shoes and otherwise woolen and windproof clothes, hat and mittens.
Included: freezedried travel lunch/hot drink&bisquits.We recommend that you bring a bottle of water.
On all trips, at all times, an experienced and armed guide will be around to protect you from polar bears.
At Green Dog safety is our number one priority.
Minimum age for participation: 8 years
Our guides are all very professional and passionated in their work with the dogs. They are certified and participate in the yearly SGO course (Svalbard Guide Course).
Cancellation fees for activities
If cancelled 22 days or more prior to departure 100 % refund
If cancelled 22-7 days prior to departure 50 % refund
Cancellation less than 7 days prior to departure is a ”no show” and does not qualify for any refund. You may apply to your insurance company for a refund if you provide a medical certificate.
If Green Dog Svalbard decides to cancel a trip due to weather or any other condition , you will receive a full refund!
