There's plenty of fish in the Isfjord on Svalbard. The last few years, Longyearbyen has had an abundance of large cod fishes during the late summer season and during the fall. The locals in Svalbard has been able to harvest these resources for a long time, and now it's finally your turn to go fishing in the Arctic! The area where we'll be fishing is just outside the city, and we'll use our rugged speed boats to take us out there. You will get everything you need from us to go fishing - from fishing rods to immersion suits that will keep you safe, warm and dry.
Catch your own fish for dinnner
If we're lucky, we'll bring the catch of the day to our chefs in restaurant Nansen for preparation. Later that evening, you'll be able to enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal!
The fishing is done onboard our rugged speed boats. These are open and can be exposed to wind and sea water. Our capacity is up to four guests on each trip. The duration is approximately 3 - 4 hours. The season is from September to October. It can be cold, and it's not unusual that the temperatures can drop below zero degrees, so it's important with wind- and water proof clothes and shoes. This is equipment you'll rent from us, but make sure you put on warm clothes underneath our immersion suites. Each guest may catch 2 - 3 fish each.
Get your own fish prepared and served in Restaurant Nansen later the same evening for only NOK 239.
