About

Join us on a trip to Ny-Ålesund, a former mining town and gateway to the Arctic. This was the starting point for famous explorers’ race to the North pole. Roald Amundsen, known as the first person to reach both to the South- and North pole, used Ny-Ålesund as his base when he journeyed to the pole in 1926 with the Airship NORGE.

We will pick you up and take you to the harbor where we have our boat.  After the safety briefing, we will head out to Isfjorden and set course north. On our way through Forlandssundet we will pass Poolepynten. This is a well-known walrus hole-out place. If it’s the right time of the year, we will have a brief stop here to take a closer look at the walruses. After a drive of 3-4 hours, we will reach Kongsfjorden. In clear weather we can see “Tre kroner”, three nunataks that sticks out of the beautiful Kongbreen glacier. Kongsfjorden is very often filled with icebergs that has been calving from the huge glaciers that the fjord is surrounded by.

When we arrive in Ny-Ålesund we will go ashore to explore this cozy little town with so much history. We will visit the mast where Roald Amundsen attached his Airship while he was waiting to set off to the North pole. Here we will also find the northern most post office where you can send postcards. After the guided tour, you will have time to shop for souvenirs in the northern most shop in the world. Before we head back to Longyearbyen we will find a nice spot where we will enjoy our lunch.

We can bring guests in wheelchair. Please contact for booking.

The minimum age is 4 years. We require a minimum of 7 persons on this trip.
