Season (23 May 2025 - 22 Sept 2025) |
---|
On the windswept grounds of Kapp Linné, you can observe how the never setting midnight sun patrols the sky in almost uniform circles from April to August. Enjoy the view from the sauna on the cliff and refresh yourself with an Arctic sea bath at the rim of Svalbard’s west coast. The peaceful view at this place is observed by more fulmars than human beings, and you will be one of the lucky few experiencing the wildlife at Isfjord Radio this day.
Day 1
2.30PM Pick up at your hotel or guesthouse in Longyearbyen.
3PM Departure with ISFJORD-EKSPRESSEN. We head towards Isfjord Radio with a steady course westward. The crossing takes about an hour, based on current weather conditions. At arrival you will be warmly welcomes by your hosts for the next days.
5PM-6.30PM Join us for a walk of this historical radio station and learn the special history of the destination. Enjoy your afternoon by exploring the library, an Arctic spa or simply relax with a nice drink and the view from the living room window.
8PM, We gather for a 5-course dinner. Please advise if you have any food allergies that we need to keep in mind. This is an important information for the chef’s meal preparation, due to the remote location.

On our 5-hour open RIB-safari we embark on our Polarcirkle boat to the north side of Isfjorden. In Trygghamna we will meet the eye-catching landmark Alkhornet, a large bird mountain surrounded by a lush and beautiful landscape. We continue our cruise to Ymerbukta, where the scenic Esmark glacier dives into the bay. As we float between small icebergs in the green glacial water you can hear the ice crackle.
If you prefer to hike rather that do boat safaris, you can join your Isfjord Radio guide on one of our favourite tracks along the old radio poles of the station given three optional route and activity alternatives. The hike will be approximately 10-16 km long depending on route.

In Spitsbergen, weather conditions can change quickly. We can meet heavy winds, snowstorms or thick fog, crevasses and lack of snow or ice. This means we might need to make changes to the planned route, and this might lead up us not arriving to the planned destination. It can also mean that we need to use a different transportation style or accommodation than what was described in the program. We will always do our outmost to give our guests a great experience in the Arctic, but we must be aware that characteristics of the destination.
