Combine comfort and efficiency on our electric bike tour, which enables you to see a range of Longyearbyen’s sights while getting close to nature. The birdlife is at its best during the summer months, and silently moving through the wilderness with an electrical bike will bring you closer to the action. This is the perfect way to explore the sealed and unsealed roads around Longyearbyen.
The arctic birdlife
Ever felt like you had superpowers? The thought may well occur as every push on the pedal gives you an extra jump forwards. On this tour around Longyearbyen you will get a good introduction to the town, before we continue towards Burmaveien and then towards Bjørndalen. In this area, a number of locals have cabins, and many seabirds and waterfowl come here to search for food in the seasonal lakes. Despite being at 78 degrees north, the birdlife and flora here is unique and impressive.
Great contrasts from the seat of your bike
After birdspotting by the sea we will turn the bikes eastwards, and make our way into Adventdalen, the ‘Advent Valley’, to take a look at the inland birds and other wildlife, as well as the original industry here in Longyearbyen - mining. There are 44 kilometres of road here, most of which were built for the mining industry, and every now and then giant trucks filled with coal fly past us on the road. This makes for a massive contrast to the peaceful Arctic landscape which surrounds us otherwise.
Electric cycling in the Arctic
We end our bicycling adventure back in Longyearbyen, filled with rich cultural and wilderness experiences, and with rosy red cheeks from the fresh Arctic air. Thanks to the electric motor on the bicycles, we will reach many of the highlights of Longyearbyen in just half a day. This is a comfortable and fun way to experience the Arctic, getting close to nature from the seat of your bike.
