We take you into the wild with our speedboat, and our skipper chooses the route based on daily conditions and recent wildlife sightings around Isfjord. Our goal is to share our favorite areas of this fjord with you and maximize wildlife sightings.
Svalbard is so-called “cuisine of the weather” and that’s the wind and the sea that often make adjustments to our plans.
The name of the trip says it all: there is no set itinerary, and this trip has many options so that we will decide together as a group what to do depending on weather and sea conditions, as well as the interests of the group.
Our route travels out of Longyearbyen across Isfjord – the second largest fjord of the archipelago.
One of our regular itineraries is to visit the massive front of the Borebreen (Boreglacier) that has been very active during the last couple of years and has been filling Borebukta bay around it with plenty of ice. As we enjoy the beauty and solitude there, we will have a coffee-tea break together.
If the weather is not suitable, the skipper will set an alternative plan for the day, that might be either towards Tempelfjord and Tuna glacier or towards Colesbay.
During the trip, we will try our luck to spot seals resting on the iceflakes, observe birds, and maybe even spot whales and walrus.
If we are very fortunate, we will have a good polar bear sighting!
Our speedboat “Stefi” is custom built for navigating the polar environment.
Its partially enclosed cabin offers shelter and warmth even during cold days or rough seas.
