Read more about Svalbard Cruise Network and the Port of Longyearbyen
One of the world’s largest areas of untouched wilderness awaits you in the High Arctic. During the summer Svalbard comes alive with calving glaciers, teeming bird cliffs, unique Polar wildlife and hardy flowers, all set against a backdrop of majestic mountain ranges and endless Arctic tundra. Longyearbyen, the northernmost town in the world, bids you welcome to these experiences plus so much more. During your call you can enjoy a range of excursions, all including pick-up from the pier. Slow cruising in the magnificent Isfjord is an extended concept, offering a wide spread of nature, wildlife and cultural heritage sites to visit.
The cruise network is a committed and well organized cooperation between local stakeholders within Visit Svalbard and Port of Longyearbyen. We develop and market Longyearbyen and the Isfjord area as a unique, attractive and sustainable cruise destination. The main objective is to motivate cruise lines to plan itineraries which spend more time in our Arctic waters in order to fully enjoy all aspects of our Slow Cruise Isjford-concept.
Port Longyear hosts 25 conventional and some 300 expedition cruise calls during the Arctic summer from April to October.
