The World’s Northernmost Brewery
Svalbard Brewery was established in 2011 and poured its first beer in August 2015. After six years of effort to change a 1928 law prohibiting alcohol production on Svalbard, Robert Johansen’s deep connection to the island and passion for brewing culminated in this venture. For a unique experience, we recommend a visit to Svalbard Brewery to taste their local beer made with 2,000-year-old glacier water from Bogerbreen. Their products are also available at most restaurants in Longyearbyen and at the liquor store Nordpolet.
Arctic Edge
Arctic Edge Svalbard was founded in 2013 by Yann, a local guide with years of experience in polar regions. Svalbard’s harsh climate inspired him to create unique wool garments that keep guests warm on every trip. These garments, tested in extreme Arctic conditions, are crafted in New Zealand from a luxurious blend of wool, possum fiber, and silk.

Coffee from Svalbard Brenneri
Michael and Marie’s passion for coffee led to the creation of Svalbard Brenneri, where they roast several types of coffee in eco-friendly packaging. Their coffee is available at Café Huskies, among other locations.
Svalbard Mood
Sophie Cordon, originally from France, visited Svalbard for the first time in 2006 and moved here in 2013. Her photographs, inspired by Svalbard’s magical light and landscape, are taken while she explores the area on skis, by bike, or on foot. After a sailing trip around Spitsbergen in 2018, Eveline Lunde fell in love with Svalbard. She now creates digital illustrations inspired by its beautiful nature and wildlife. Her products are available at the Tourist Information.

Line Nagell Ylvisåker is a journalist living in Longyearbyen with her family. Her book My World is Melting describes Longyearbyen's changing climate and the increasing extreme weather that concerns residents.
