In Christian Ritter's footsteps

Artist, teacher, and sailor Paula de Ruiter takes you on an exciting Arctic adventure.

In the late 1980s, she set sail from the Netherlands towards author Christiane Ritter's cabin on Spitsbergen, without the aid of GPS, radar, or other modern navigation tools. She then sailed towards the Hinlopen Strait, being aboard the first Dutch sailing yacht to pass through the strait.

In addition to recounting the expedition, Paula will showcase images from the journey, her own graphic works created along the way, and share some of the following letter exchange with Christiane Ritter.

The lecture is being held in collaboration with Spitsbergen Artists Center, and will be conducted in English.
