In 2019, Svalbard's first Pride Festival was organized. The world's northernmost Pride parade was a great success, and now Pride is held annually in little Longyearbyen. The festival is family-oriented, and helps to show acceptance and diversity in one of the world's northernmost communities. We also want to show the many thousands of tourists who visit us every year that Longyearbyen is an open destination for visitors with LGBT+ affiliation.
The festival is held over 4 days, from Thursday to Sunday.
- On Thursday there is a free cinema.
- On Friday there is a rainbow party for the city's youth and a Pride Cruise in Isfjorden with MS Bard for the adults.
- On Saturday, there are activities for children in the library before the parade starts at 17.00, starting from Svalbardhallen. The parade ends at Polarhotellet (Radisson) with music and speeches. Pride continues in the Barentz Gastropub with music and food, before the buses take us to Huset for the grand finale. There will be live entertainment and a DJ throughout the night.
- On Sunday, there are Pride Munchies organized by Tio Monchos for those who want to gather more energy before we end the festival with a free cinema (again) and a rainbow sermon in Svalbard Church.
We welcome everyone to Longyearbyen Pride!
