Discover Longyearbyen, the world’s northernmost settlement, on a comprehensive sightseeing tour designed to give you a complete understanding of Svalbard from day one.
This experience takes you across nearly the entire road network of Longyearbyen and its surrounding valleys, combining Arctic landscapes, cultural history, and modern infrastructure in one seamless journey. With only a limited number of roads in the region, this tour allows you to efficiently explore a wide range of key locations within just a few hours.
We begin in Adventdalen, one of Svalbard’s most iconic valleys, known for its open tundra, wildlife, and historical mining remains. Along the way, your guide provides insights into Arctic nature, permafrost, and the transformation of Longyearbyen from a coal mining settlement into a modern research and tourism hub.
Continuing west, we visit the airport area and several elevated viewpoints overlooking Adventfjorden. Here, you will see globally significant landmarks such as the Svalbard Global Seed Vault and the Arctic World Archive, both essential components of international infrastructure.
The final part of the tour focuses on the settlement itself, where you gain a deeper understanding of daily life in the High Arctic, including logistics, safety regulations, and living conditions in one of the most remote communities in the world.
