First Time on Skis – A Cross-Country Ski Adventure in Advent Valley
As you strap on your skis, the adventure begins. Perhaps this is your first time trying cross-country skiing, and it may feel a little unfamiliar at first. But with a few simple tips from your guide, you will soon find your balance and rhythm – and discover the joy of gliding through the quiet winter landscape.
This tour is perfect for beginners who want to experience skiing for the very first time. Your guide will introduce you to the basic techniques before we set out on a gentle ski adventure through beautiful Advent Valley. There is no focus on speed or performance – this is about learning something new, enjoying the outdoors, and experiencing the unique nature surrounding Longyearbyen.
Feel the crisp Arctic air on your face, listen to the soft crunch of snow beneath your skis, and experience true Arctic silence that only a Svalbard winter can offer. Along the way, we will take a well-deserved break to enjoy some biscuits and a warm drink while taking in the views of snow-covered mountains and the frozen landscape stretching out around us.
Cross-country skiing is an important part of winter life for many locals in Longyearbyen, and this tour gives you a small taste of the local outdoor culture. Who knows – perhaps this will be the beginning of a new favourite activity and many more ski adventures to come.
