Frequently asked questions
Will this be a difficult hike to the campsite?

No, it is not considered as difficult. All campsites will be easy accessible but we do need to carry equipment which means that you need to have average physical fitness.

Is it possible to bring my family with children?
Yes, but we have an age limit of 12 years old. It is crucial to bring lots of layers for the children and good warm hiking boots.

I have never camped before sd will it be possible for me to join?
Yes, you will learn everything you need to know along the way.

Will it be safe considering polar bears?
Yes, it will be safe. We will take turns on polar bear watches (approx. a couple of hours each) and you will be taught how to do so. You can really enjoy the quiet beauty of Svalbard when everyone else is asleep.

How do I go to the toilet?
We will facilitate an arctic field toilet in the outlets of the camp.

How will I be sleeping?
We will sleep in good sleeping bags and on a good thick mattress in tents designed for the arctic.

Is it possible to ski or hike?
Depending on the weather and conditions, it may be possible to have a short day hike with lightweight backpacks on day 1 or day 2. In the dark season and winter, we offer the possibility to go on skis (possible to rent boots and skis).

Language and clothes
You need to be able to speak and communicate in English due to safety reasons.
We can deny participation in the tour if you are not properly dressed for hiking and/or requirement above have not been fulfilled.

What does the cost of the tour cover?

This covers the private and exclusive guide with polar bear security for a small group for 2 days and 1 night. It also includes all the special equipment being used for this tour which is high quality as we want to make sure safety is in the highest priority.
