About

Experience the beauty of a Svalbard glacier on a shorter guided Arctic adventure from Longyearbyen.

After a short transfer from town, we begin our hike through the Arctic landscape towards the glacier.
Depending on the season and conditions, we use crampons or snowshoes to walk safely on snow and ice.
Along the route, your guide will explain how glaciers are formed, how they change throughout the year and how they shape the landscape around Longyearbyen.

This is an ideal experience for visitors who want to experience a glacier but have limited time in Svalbard.
The hike is conducted in a small group and does not require previous glacier-hiking experience or technical climbing skills.

As we explore the glacier landscape, we may also find fossils preserved in the rocks around us.
Svalbard’s mountains contain evidence of ancient plants and marine life from a time when the Arctic climate was very different.
Your guide will explain what we find and how these fossils help us understand Svalbard’s geological history.

We take time to enjoy the scenery, photograph the glacier and look for signs of Arctic wildlife.
The exact route and glacier area may vary according to weather, snow and safety conditions, equipment will be given accordingly
