Step into the Arctic night on a guided Northern Lights adventure by car, starting from Longyearbyen and heading into the dark valleys of Adventdalen and beyond.
This tour takes you away from the streetlights, past the Svalbard Global Seed Vault, and out towards Mine 3, where we search for the best spots to see the aurora dancing above the snow‑covered landscape.
With warm drinks, cookies, and local storytelling, this is a comfortable, small‑group experience designed for both first‑time visitors and repeat aurora chasers.
This evening tour uses a minivan or comfortable car to move quickly between different vantage points around Longyearbyen, Adventdalen, the Global Seed Vault area, and Mine 3. Your guide monitors weather and light conditions, chooses the best dark spots, and explains how the aurora works, the myths and stories behind it, and the unique Arctic conditions that make Svalbard such a good place to see the Northern Lights.
The route is flexible: the tour always goes first into Adventdalen and near the Seed Vault, then continues toward Mine 3 or turns back, depending where the lights appear and current conditions.
