Camp in remote Ymerbukta, where glaciers meet the sea and time slows down. Spend three unforgettable days hiking, kayaking, and walking on ancient ice – camping by the glacier under the midnight sun. No previous experience is needed – just curiosity and a love for being outdoors. You’ll sleep in tents, join in on polar bear watch, and learn new skills along the way. Expect both adventure and quiet moments.
Day 1 – Hello Ymerbukta & First Kayak Experience
We cross Isfjorden by boat and set up camp on a remote beach. The afternoon is spent exploring the coastline by kayak, followed by a relaxing dinner and, if conditions allow, a campfire under the glow of the midnight sun.
Day 2 – Glacier Adventure
We hike to Esmark Glacier, rope up, and explore its crevassed surface with crampons. Lunch is enjoyed on the ice with breathtaking views over the bay below, before returning to camp for a peaceful evening.
Day 3 – Final Hike & Boat back to Longyearbyen
We take a final hike, pack down camp, and take the boat back to Longyearbyen. Keep an eye out for whales along the way.
Is this you?
You’re someone who’s okay with sleeping in a tent, you don’t mind being with the group for 3 days, you don’t mind getting up for polar bear watch at 3 AM in the night, and you would always choose adventure over hotel pillows and Wi-Fi.
The trip is moderately demanding. Hikes take place in rugged terrain with sand, rocks, and uneven surfaces. Good fitness is required. All participants take part in daily camp routines such as cooking, dishwashing, and polar bear watch.
Included in the price:
Transport to/ from your accommodation, boat transport to/from Ymerbukta, personal kayak equipment, glacier hiking equipment, food, accommodation in the field (tent), experienced guide with necessary safety equipment, Search- and Rescue Insurance
Disclaimer:
The itinerary may be adjusted due to weather, ice conditions, wildlife presence, or the group’s capabilities. If polar bears are in the area, we may need to change plans or return to Longyearbyen and do day trips from there. Safety – for both people and wildlife – is our highest priority.
