Your adventure begins at our basecamp, where our experienced guides will provide a thorough safety briefing and detailed instructions on how to operate your snowmobile. No previous snowmobile experience is required, and we will make sure everyone feels comfortable before setting off.
We leave Longyearbyen behind and head into the Arctic night, with Adventdalen and the surrounding valleys as our main area of exploration.
Away from the lights of town, we search for clear skies and suitable conditions to experience the Northern Lights.
The exact route depends on the weather, snow conditions and cloud cover.
Our guides use local knowledge and current forecasts to choose the route and give you the best possible chance of seeing the aurora.
During the tour, we make several stops to observe the sky, take photographs and experience the landscape around us.
Your guide will also share stories about Svalbard’s history, nature and wildlife, as well as the mining heritage that has played an important role in the development of Longyearbyen and the surrounding area.
We also keep an eye out for Arctic wildlife along the way. Svalbard reindeer, Arctic foxes and ptarmigans may be seen during the tour, although wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.
The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and sightings cannot be guaranteed. Weather conditions, cloud cover and aurora activity can change quickly. The tour is therefore also an opportunity to experience the polar night, travel by snowmobile through the Arctic landscape and learn more about Svalbard after dark.
What is included:
Transfers from and to your hotel, hot drinks and snacks, certified local guide with polar bear protection, safety equipment and Search & Rescue insurance.
We provide snowmobile suits, balaclavas, boots, mittens, helmets and goggles.
What to bring:
Recommended clothing under the snowmobile suit: wool base layer pants and top, thick sweater or fleece, thin pants, hat, optional thin buff (the balaclava is normally sufficient), liners or thin gloves that can be worn under your mittens, and a water bottle.
We do not recommend wearing thick jackets such as puffy jackets or very thick pants underneath the snowmobile suit.
Important info:
A valid driver’s license for a car or motorbike is required to drive a snowmobile. Remember to bring your driver’s license with you on the tour.
Passengers do not need a driver’s license.
The route can be adjusted according to weather and snow conditions, cloud cover, Northern Lights forecasts and the presence of wildlife.
Please note that the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Your pick-up time depends on your hotel’s location, so please allow for a slight variation in the scheduled time.
We are not able to offer a refund due to sickness, cancelled or delayed flights or other circumstances outside our control. We therefore recommend having valid travel insurance that covers such events.
We reserve the right to refuse participation without refund if you do not arrive on time, are not properly prepared in terms of clothing or are otherwise not capable of participating in the activity safely.
